Another Anonymous comment about suing

This was in the comment section on FBCJAXWatchdog's latest post about Ergun calling some Muslims "towelhead stalkers".  Obviously the normal caveats need to be said here.  As Ergun has proven, anyone can say anything on the internet, especially without sourcing.  Also, anecdotes are one of the weakest forms of evidence.  All of that being said, I wanted to share this comment.

This Blog WILL be sued for defamation.

Here is the definition of defamation:

Defamation—also called calumny, vilification, traducement, slander (for transitory statements), and libel (for written, broadcast, or otherwise published words)—is the communication of a statement that makes a claim, expressly stated or implied to be factual, that may give an individual, business, product, group, government, religion, or nation a negative or inferior image.

We will see you in civil court unless you cease and desist.
For all I know these comments could be two separate Alaskan Seven Day Adventists just pulling everybody's chains.  Still, I thought I would share it.  Also, you can read the post, but as far as I can tell, WD has done none of those things.  The commenter just blabbers and does not give any specifics.

Ergun lies about his facebook photo

Preaching in 2006, Ergun described this picture in a sermon this way.

This was my father, the one I spoke of yesterday, Acar Mehmet Caner. I am the second from him, that is one of my half sisters, one of my half brothers, and one other of my father’s children.  I am the knock kneed child sitting there with my father. This was in Turkey.  This was in Istanbul.
However on his facebook page he describes the same picture this way.

1979 - In the Mosque. An Imam is like a pastor - I am the second kid from the left.
One, Ergun's half sisters were not born until after the divorce in 1978.  This young woman is taller than the 12-13 year old Ergun in this picture.  She must be a fast grower for an infant.  Two, in a sermon the day before, Ergun claimed that he immigrated to America in 1978.  Here he is saying that this picture was taken in Istanbul.  Ergun was forbidden to travel to Istanbul by the custody arrangement.  Three, that man in the picture is not Acar, it is the imam of the mosque.  Acar was not an imam.  At best he was a muezzin.  Four, Dr. Norman Geisler argued that while speaking quickly on one occasion, Ergun accidentally said he had half-brothers.  Well, for one occasion, I keep finding more examples.  Then there is this other kid who is identified as "one other of my father’s children."

I am going to make a video about this, hopefully soon.  Thank you to Mokan at fakeexmuslims.com.  He has done more work on this than anyone else.  Christian, Muslim, and Atheist, we owe him a debt of gratitude.  Also thank you to James White, without his research I would not have found this sermon.

Update - The video has been made and can be found here. http://mosesmodel.blogspot.com/2013/04/ergun-caner-has-two-daddies.html

Let God deal with Ergun?

This was in the comment section on FBCJAXWatchdog's latest post about Ergun calling some Muslims "towelhead stalkers".  Obviously the normal caveats need to be said here.  As Ergun has proven, anyone can say anything on the internet, especially without sourcing.  Also, anecdotes are one of the weakest forms of evidence.  All of that being said, I wanted to share this comment.

I spoke with Ergun this weekend.

He is getting a lawyer and is tired of this harrasment.

Please stop the madness and leave this Brother alone.

It may end up costing you a lot of money.
I mostly just quote Ergun and have said nothing that I can't prove.   However, I want to point out the double standard.  Over the last two years, I have been told to pray for Ergun, trust God to deal with Ergun, and not judge Ergun, because I am not God.  This standard has never been applied from Ergun's side.  Ergun does not trust God with his critics.  He blasts them from the sacred desk and over the internet.  Ergun judges and insults his critics constantly.  I do pray for Ergun, but Ergun has never trusted this only to prayer.  Why is there a double standard?  Where are the Ergun supporters publicly calling on him to stop and rely on God?

Anecdotal Turkey Comment

I don't know about everybody else, but I am really enjoying the comment section on FBCJAXWatchdog's latest post about Ergun calling some Muslims "towelhead stalkers".  Obviously the normal caveats need to be said here.  As Ergun has proven, anyone can say anything on the internet, especially without sourcing.  Also, anecdotes are one of the weakest forms of evidence.  All of that being said, I wanted to share this comment.
I've followed this Ergan Caner story with much interest as I had a personal encounter with him back before he was exposed. My husband and I lived in a large city in Turkey from 2000-2002. We had a pretty good immersion in the culture, lived side by side with other Turkish people and got to know a little of the language. Approximately six years ago (I estimate it was around 2007), we saw an ad that a local church was hosting a talk by Ergun Caner, a converted Muslim from Turkey. We knew nothing of Caner, but were curious, as we knew how rare Muslim converts were.

So, we attended the service and heard Ergun's sermon. The first thing we noticed was Ergun's English was WAY too good for someone who learned English as a second language. He used colloquialisms that foreigners just wouldn't use. His overall mannerisms were also too American. (The way he carried himself, the humor, the facial expressions) It was just ODD.

After the service, we went up to Ergun and I spoke to him in Turkish, with just a basic Turkish greeting. His reaction was one of raised eyebrows, then he answered me back in English with a long, drawn out "hiiiiiiiiiiii". We mentioned that we were intrigued with his story because we lived in Turkey - he asked us about living there, but his questions weren't consistent with someone who knew the culture. One of the things he asked me was whether or not I had to wear the hijab while we lived there. That was a strange question because most women who live in modern cities in Turkey do not wear head coverings. If he had lived there, he would have known that. He also didn't seem to know about some of the Turkish foods we talked about eating while we lived there. After a few other exchanges with him, we left the church.

As we drove away. I turned to my husband and said, "It seemed like we knew more about Turkey than he did." And then my husband said, "Yeah, something's just not right." We never gave it any thought after that because we are not Southern Baptists and don't run in those circles. But, when it came out in 2010 that Caner's story was mostly made up, our experience with him made sense.

One of the things that floors me the most is that Caner was hired as the head of the LU seminary with so little vetting. Where was the discernment of Jerry Falwell? And the board members at LU? My husband and I are not in the ministry, have never spent a day in seminary, yet we could sense after one meeting with Caner that something was fishy.
She is right.  Hijabs are not worn by the majority of Muslim women and they are not popular in most of Turkey.  I didn't find this out until I was midway through seminary.  Though, I may be the exception, most of my education on Islam from Liberty was pretty poor.  I have had to supplement a lot with my private reading.

You can't hate Muslims and reach them.

I know some Baptists can be a little slow on the uptake, but it is 2013 and we have to say this?  Still, I guess I am glad that someone said it.

My Thesis

The above is an exact quote from an 2005 Ergun sermon
Last night, I had to make my case again in less than 140 Characters, so I think my entire argument congealed.  My thesis is this:  Ergun Caner intentionally claimed that he came to America in 1978 with his polygamist father.  In a nutshell that is what I am trying to prove and warn people about.

Also for the record.
  • Ergun was raised as a Muslim as proven by his parents' divorce papers.
  • I like to provide longer clips in order to ensure that I am not deceitfully editing and I am fair to him.
  • I transcribe Ergun to be fair to him.
  • Most of the time, the unedited sources are linked to my videos.
  • I wasn't convinced by edited videos.  I was convinced by listening to Ergun's unedited sources.
  • Until I watched the Marine videos, August 2010, I defended Ergun.
  • I use a pseudonym, because there are real consequences to my actions.  I have been insulted and threatened in real life and as MosesModel.
  • I have promised to remove all my videos about Ergun if he and Norman Geisler will publicly admit in writing that Ergun lied at Marine Corp Air Station New River.
  • Also this is largely an effort in trying to prove myself wrong.  My mind has trouble finding different meanings for quotes like the one in the meme.   Also, if I am wrong, why did the Liberty Champion report my take on what Ergun was claiming and that Marine introduce Ergun as coming to America when he was 14 years old?.  There are contemporaneous accounts.  I might be wrong, but it really sounded like Rick and Bubba thought that Ergun grew up in Turkey watching Georgia Championship Wrestling.  Then again, perhaps I am going crazy.

Ergun Caner calls people "towelhead stalkers" on twitter

January 8, 2013, John Ankerberg invited Ergun and Emir onto his show praying that their testimony would win Muslims to Christ.  January 20, 2013 Ergun went into a twitter tirade and one of the insults he used was "towelhead".  Around 2005, Ergun put out a video where he claimed that Stelzer Rd Baptist Church loved him to the cross by not insulting him.  Apparently Ergun has abandoned that strategy.

Towelhead stalkers bombing buses

Just when you think that Ergun is going to win the Muslim world for Christ he says this.

PS - Ergun has preached many times that he was loved to the cross.  Quoting Ergun, he has said that the church at Stelzer Rd did not call him"sand nigger", "camel jockey", or "towelhead".  Above is how Ergun tries to love people to the cross?

What it takes to get blocked by John Ankerberg

Before I was blocked this is the only tweet I sent to John.

Then the rest are retweets or where I mentioned his name.

Apparently this made me block worthy.  The good news is that now I can mention him in my tweets now without the fear that I am annoying him.

John Ankerberg's 2013 statement

I guess I need to keep the Mother Smuggling videos coming.  John does know that Ergun claimed his father smuggled women across the border right?
Why I Invited Emir Caner and Ergun Caner to The John Ankerberg Show

Those of you who watch our program know that in the past I have invited Muslim and Christian scholars to debate the truth claims of Islam and Christianity. In one such debate, I invited Muslim authorities Dr. Jamal Badawi, Chairman of the Islamic Information Foundation, Halifax, Nova Scotia, and Dr. Hussein Morsi, Director of the Islamic Cultural Center of Chicago, Illinois to come and debate Christian authorities Dr. Gleason Archer who received his Ph.D. from Harvard University and Dr. Anis Shorrosh, a Palestinian Arab Christian.

Today, as a result of watching world events, people can see Islam is expanding. In the Middle East we have watched many countries become Islamic Sates and implement Sharia law as the law of their land. Many see this expansion as a threat to individual freedoms and basic human rights. After the United Nations, the Organization Of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) is the largest inter-governmental body in the world, overseeing 57 Muslim member countries. According to the OIC’s website, the organization "is the collective voice of all causes close to the heart of over 1.5 billion Muslims." In 1990 this body adopted the Cairo Declaration, "which officially exempted all Muslim countries from compliance with the UN Universal declaration on human rights and replaced it with Islamic law (Sharia)." The agenda of this group has been to use the United Nations to criminalize criticism of Islam.

All of this has raised many questions that need to be addressed. To help inform, encourage, and instruct the Christian church, I recently extended an invitation to two former Muslims, Dr. Emir Caner and Dr. Ergun Caner, to be guests on our television program. The goal was to answer such questions as: What are Christians experiencing in countries where Sharia law has become the law of the land? Why is Sharia so important to Muslims? What is Sharia? Where did it come from? What is it that makes Sharia so dangerous to Western society? Sharia not only dictates how Muslims should live, but also how Muslims should treat non-Muslims. What impact is Sharia having on Great Britain and other European countries?

Muslim imams (religious leaders of local mosques) in the UK now outnumber the UK’s Christian pastors. There are now more than 1,700 official mosques in Britain. Why has the UK allowed the establishment of 85 Sharia councils (said to have tried some 7,000 cases decided up through 2010) and five Muslim arbitration tribunals in the United Kingdom? These Muslim arbitration tribunals operate under the United Kingdom’s arbitration act of 1996, and therefore their rulings are binding under UK law –even though some of these rulings are contrary to UK law. Further, these tribunals are not providing the legal safeguards many Western court systems have.

For Americans, which Islamic organizations in America are working to establish Sharia law in our nation? How successful have they been? What have they accomplished? Finally, the role of women in Islam is of extreme concern to many in the world. More than 700 million Muslim women live under the teachings of Muhammad, and Islam is a religion that covers everything in their lives from the cradle to the grave. What does Sharia law require of Islamic women? How has it been applied historically and how is it being applied today?

I believe Drs. Emir and Ergun Caner are two men uniquely qualified to speak about these topics. They are both former Sunni Muslims who grew up in a home where their father built mosques in America. They became Christians as teenagers while living in Columbus, Ohio, and have since obtained doctoral degrees in theology or history, and now teach at Christian universities. They have also taught in countries overseas and are in communication with Christians currently living in Islamic States. Both have authored numerous books that speak about the differences between Christianity and Islam from a Christian perspective. Emir and I have also co-authored three books together: The Truth about Islam and Jesus, The Truth about Islam and Women, and The Truth about Islam and Jihad.

Emir’s educational background includes a Bachelor of Arts in Biblical Studies from The Criswell College in Dallas, Texas, where he graduated summa cum laude in 1993. He followed in 1995 with a Master of Divinity from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary in Wake Forest, North Carolina, and earned a Doctor of Philosophy in History in 1999 from the University of Texas at Arlington. Emir served as pastor and in staff positions in churches in Ohio, North Carolina, Virginia and Texas for a decade before entering higher education.

From 1999 to 2004 he was Assistant Professor of Church History and Anabaptist Studies at Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary and during the 2004-2005 academic year, he served as the seminary's Associate Dean of Southeastern College at Wake Forest as well. In 2005 he became the founding Dean of The College at Southwestern, Director of the Center for Free Church Studies and Professor of History at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas, and remained there until he accepted the call of Truett-McConnell College to become its eighth president in August 2008. A prolific writer, Dr. Caner has written or contributed to 18 books. Unveiling Islam, co-authored with Ergun, received the Gold Medallion Book of the Year award, has sold nearly 200,000 copies.

Ergun’s educational background includes a Masters degree from The Criswell College, a Master of Divinity and a Master of Theology from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary, and a Doctor of Theology from the University of South Africa. From 2003-2011, Ergun served at Liberty Baptist Theological Seminary, including serving as President during this time. In 2011, he became Provost and Vice President of Academic Affairs at Arlington Bible College in Arlington, Texas, where he also serves as a professor. He has co-authored numerous books with Emir and speaks at events across the U.S. and worldwide.

Some have questioned our invitation to Dr. Ergun Caner in light of attacks from extreme Muslims and others who spread rumors and accusations in 2010 claiming he was not a devout Muslim and challenging some of his spoken statements about his background. These accusations were addressed by an independent committee at Liberty University, that concluded with a June 29, 2010 statement that read: “After a thorough and exhaustive review of Dr. Caner’s public statements, a committee consisting of four members of Liberty University’s Board of Trustees has concluded that Dr. Caner had made factual statements that are self-contradictory. However, the Committee found no evidence to suggest that Dr. Caner was not a Muslim who converted to Christianity as a teenager…. [After a thorough review of 200 hours of his lectures and sermons, only about 5 minutes of which were in question] Liberty stated, Dr. Caner will remain on the faculty of Liberty Baptist Theological Seminary as a Professor.”

Apologist and founder of Veritas Seminary, Dr. Norman Geisler, has defended and thoroughly documented the information surrounding these accusations against Dr. Ergun Caner in two articles freely available online: http://www.normangeisler.net/articles/ErgunCaner/default.htm.

Here is an example from Dr. Geisler's article of a factual statement that Ergun made that was self-contradictory. Ergun claims he was saved in 1982 but also claims his brother Emir was converted in 1982, yet elsewhere Emir’s conversion is said to be a year later (1983).

Response: Both men agree that Emir was saved a year after Ergun. There is some confusion about the exact year. Given that Ergun was converted in 1982 (as he claims), this would put Emir’s conversion “a year later” (as they both acknowledge). Again, there is no intention to deceive here but simply a problem of memory about exact dates.

Dr. Geisler concluded: “Having examined all these charges against Dr. Caner carefully and having looked at the related evidence, I can say without hesitation that all of the moral charges against Dr. Caner are unsubstantiated. Further, no one had demonstrated moral intent on any of the factual misstatements he made (which we all make).” He added, “Dr. Caner is a man of honesty, integrity, and loyalty to Christ.”

Also, “Kregel Publications concluded that the Kregel titles by Dr. Caner are trustworthy, factually accurate, and helpful to both Christians and seekers wanting to know more about Islamic beliefs and how those beliefs compare and contrast with biblical Christianity.” (Kregel, July 6, 2010)

Since no credible evidence was supplied to suggest that Ergun's ability to instruct or communicate the information related to his areas of expertise was found, I had no concerns in inviting him as a guest.

Both Drs. Ergun and Emir Caner have stood against much persecution as a result of converting to Christianity from a Muslim background. Initially, their father disowned these men after Ergun and Emir became Christians, though many of their immediate family members later converted to Christianity. However, many who dislike their teachings continue to use accusations to cause problems that would limit their ability to communicate the gospel message.

Let me be clear. I believe the information you will hear these men present on our television programs is truthful and is fully documented in the Qur’an and the Hadith. I hope that you will join us to watch these programs when they air.

I believe that Jesus Christ claimed to be God, and proved He was telling the truth about who he was by performing miracles and literally resurrecting from the dead. Muhammad, some 550 years after Christ lived, taught a false picture of Jesus that is not supported by the historical evidence. It is my desire to help present the truths Jesus taught, and specifically the gospel—that Jesus, who was God in human flesh, died for everyone's sins while on the cross, and will forgive and give eternal life to anyone who admits they are a sinner and will place their faith in Him. He offers this gift freely to all sinners; it is not based on any of our good works. Jesus was more than a prophet; he is the risen Son of God who alone provides eternal life (John 3:16, John 14:6).

PS - "After a thorough review of 200 hours of his lectures and sermons, only about 5 minutes of which were in question." In my Mother Smuggling series alone, I have more than 5 minutes of material in question and there are still more videos to make.

Ergun is done being silent

For Ergun calling people Pharisees, gay, and posing with a Congressman is being silent.  I would love to hear more about how your father smuggled his wives across the border calling them his sisters.

Keep it secret, keep it safe

“A lie will go round the world while truth is pulling its boots on.” ~ C. H. Spurgeon, Gems from Spurgeon (1859)

When Matthew 18 was written there were only 300 million people on the entire planet.  The printing press had not been invented and minting coins was considered an effective propaganda tool.   Today, there are 300 million people in the United States alone.  The jet age enabled speakers to speak to larger audiences than ever before.  The information age allows people to connect around the world.  Just look at Psy obtaining over a billion views on youtube.

Often when a minister lies or proclaims some falsehood, he proclaims it before an audience, on the air waves, and the information super highway.  His supporters then demand that criticism should be directed privately through personal meeting or private email.  Some ministers will then ignore the request, lawyer up, or block the critic online.  Unfortunately many ministers rather spend more time correcting others than receiving correction themselves.

Why should a lie have more mediums than the truth that tries to correct it?  Someone errs publicly, but the skeptic is bound to opine privately.  This is not an effective strategy.

Go Chad Live

Last night WSET ran the following story.

Rockbridge Co., VA- A hiker rescued over the weekend in Rockbridge County is facing a child pornography charge in Lynchburg and scheduled to be in court next month. We were working on a story about Chad Jarrett‘s arrest a few days before the hiking accident, but it did not air. According to Jarrett's Facebook page, he volunteered at Thomas Road Baptist Church's Power Point program, a ministry group of middle schoolers. Police say the criminal investigation does not involve any of the children Jarrett worked with. TRBC did not return our calls seeking comment.

This weekend Chad Jarrett fell down a hole after hitting his head.  As the story mentioned, he was arrested a couple of days before the accident.

Given the circumstance, I feel that I have a responsibility to explain my involvement with Chad.  For those that don't know, Chad was a Liberty student who ran a Vlog series about himself called Go Chad Live.  I first came into contact with Chad after I watched this video.

This was Ergun's first appearance on youtube after the controversy.  Foolishly, I stripped some of the audio from his video and used it in this video without permission.

Chad contacted me and rightfully demanded that I attribute the audio to him.  I originally did not, because I feared what might happen to him since he was a student in Ergun's class.  Over the next year or so, we messaged each other a couple of times about Ergun videos.  He remained and I assume he remains an admirer of Ergun's.

Since I am anonymous, as far as I know, Chad did not know who I was.  I obviously did know who he was and saw him around Lynchburg from time to time.  He was a local small time youtube celebrity.  I did not know until last night that Chad had been arrested.  I do not know anything in reference to his possible guilt.

God Bless,

Moses

Act like a man

I have posted about Ergun Caner saying that people should block their critics.  Here is another one.

In fairness, when Ergun Caner has lied, he has done so publicly.

Tuesday, January 15, 2013

Yeah, Ms4 script is done.

I just wanted to make sure that I make this point again.  Everything in yellow is quotes from Ergun.  All these quotes will be backed up with unedited sources.  So far I have devoted three videos to the quotes on the first page.

Ergun's supporters don't seem to want to quote Ergun.  When I accuse Ergun, I provide long transcripts and unedited source material.

Seriously, it should scare you that this guy frequents pulpits and is trusted across the country. It should scare you that he had access to military bases. Also, it should scare you that people have listened to the same quotes we have and do not regard them as lies.

If all of these are just misstatements, what are the odds that I can provide more examples of Ergun claiming his father was guilty of mother smuggling?

Muslims United

This is from an editorial that Cal interviewed Ergun for in 2009.
“There have only been three times in history when Muslims have been united,” says Dr. Caner. “One was 100 years after the death of Mohammed; the second was during the Crusades and they’re united now. It’s the reason Iran has become more dangerous…”
One of these days I need to go into Ergun's claim that hundreds of millions of people that don't all share the same religion, language, or culture united under Bin Laden.

Mother Smuggling and Ergun Caner - Again

OK, let me explain. No there is too much. Let me sum up. In Sweden, Acar Caner married Ergun’s mother. Ergun was born first in 1966. Erdem was born second in 1968. Then they picked up the family and moved to Ohio where Emir was born in 1970.

The marriage was troubled so Acar moved out around 1975. The divorce was finalized around 1978. Shortly thereafter, Acar remarried. He had two daughters from this second marriage.

Nobody disputes this. However, we saw in the first episode that in 2003, Ergun claimed the following

My mother found out late in her marriage that my father was married to more than one woman. I don’t want anyone else to deal with this.

Also, April 2005, there were these at Marine Corp Air Station New River

My father had more than one wife at a time. As you know the Quran says in Surah four that you are allowed up to four wives. My father had three.

And

We got stopped at the border, because my father had listed my mother as property. It’s true. And the guy said, “Your wife’s not property.” And he said, “of course she is.” Then he brought his “sisters” which is his other wives that’s how we bring in our other wives to America. We call them our “sisters”.

If these were all accidental misstatements, what are the odds that I can provide more examples? Let’s fast forward to the first weekend of June 2005. Ergun was preaching a conference at Ashburn Baptist in Chicago, Illinois. Remember the 2003 example?

My mother found out late in her marriage that my father was married to more than one woman. I don’t want anyone else to deal with this.

This is the same church. What are the odds that he will repeat that his father was polygamous. First, Ergun claimed to have grown up in Turkey.

What’s amazing is we keep finding out about each other that are so vastly different. We are the exact polar opposites. Don’t ever let anyone tell you that opposites can’t make it work. They can. Anybody else here who is married to a polar opposite? I mean an absolute, and it works somehow. Usually, it works, because the husband gives in, but on occasion. I have learned this, because we have lived even as Christians with misconceptions.

I had misconceptions about you. Even before I was a Christian, even before I came to America, even before I came to your country as a missionary of Islam. The only American television I saw was all I knew about America. I watched American baseball, from WGN here in Chicago. They somehow shipped it and we got Chicago Cubs baseball. I thought the purpose of American baseball was to lose, because every time I saw them play. This is Ron Santo days for all those Chicago Cubs fans.

I watched American football, I didn’t understand this, because if you pick it up, it is not a football anymore is it? I watched Dukes of Hazzard. I wanted to marry Daisy. I wanted to live in the Boars Nest. We watched Andy Griffith. Loved Andy Griffith, but I thought that all of America was Mayberry, and we came to America through Brooklyn, New York. But my favorite show came out of Georgia, because Atlanta, Georgia, small television station there was shipping its tapes to Europe and Turkey being half-Persian and half-European we would receive these tapes and they didn’t need to be translated and every two weeks, we got to watch Georgia Championship Wrestling and I thought it was real. Because nobody told me it was fake. And I thought Americans were tough. You guys got hit in the head with shoes and chains and you would get up again. I had misconceptions about you.

If you would like more examples of Ergun claiming to have grown up in Turkey watching American television you can click on this video. However let us get to some mother smuggling.

I came over during the Iranian crisis. Ayatollah Khomeini had taken control. The Shaw of Iran had been kicked out. And Ayatollah Khomeini said this, “We will not stop until America is an Islamic nation.” So in 1978, my father, my mother, my two brothers, my father’s other wives, and my half-brothers and sisters came to this country. How is it that Muslims can come to this country with other wives? Well it is called the Abraham lie. “This is my sister.” It explains our last names being the same. And so he would say, “This is my sisters.”

We settled in Brooklyn, New York, moved to Columbus, Ohio for the express purpose of what? My father was an architect and we built mosques. We would build mosques and my father in the mosque on Fridays, climbed to the top of the minaret. And there at the top of the minaret that long tower, he would begin, “[foreign language]”. The call to prayer. It’s my father’s job. It’s called a muezzin.

Ergun has no half-brothers. Do you remember Dr. Norman Geisler’s explanation for the half-brother claims?

Ergun’s father did have two wives, having divorced the first one. He had three sons by his first wife (Ergun and his two brothers). So, Ergun has two full brothers and two step-sisters (from his father’s second wife). While speaking quickly on one occasion, he mistakenly called his brothers his “half” brothers. This is hardly evidence of an attempt to embellish or deceive. After all, he had the right number of each sibling, and he didn’t claim to have ten brothers or sisters!

Obviously this was not Ergun speaking quickly. In his second to last sermon of the conference, he doubled down on both.

I have half-brothers and half-sisters in Chicago in New York and in Turkey who live here who are still lost as geese still in the slavery of Islam. But I will not give up. How dare I give up. My father died in 99. His wives are still alive. How dare I give up. My half-sisters are still alive. How dare I give up. My half-brothers, my uncles, my aunts. How dare I give up. He didn’t give up on me. He didn’t stop. God didn’t stop hunting me down.

Ergun knows that he has no half-brothers. He knows that his father was only married to one woman at a time. These sound like definite lies to me.

What are the odds that I can provide more examples of Ergun claiming his father was involved in mother smuggling?

Kamal seems to suggest that there is something wrong with us

Maybe later I will do more with Kamal.  Ergun lies a lot about himself.  Kamal makes outrageous claims about others and himself.  A couple of months ago Kamal claimed that the President's babysitter wears an abaya and veil.  Yet, he was on several episodes with Liberty Counsel, the FRC's Values Voter Summit, and Janet Parshall's show.  I am not much for guilt by association, but what is wrong with these groups that they are selling Kamal's nonsense?  Supposedly all these organizations are listening to a divine voice.  Still, arguably it worse.  Below is the bio from Janet's show.

Kamal Saleem

Kamal Saleem was born into a large Sunni Muslim Lebanese family in the heart of the Middle East, where he learned Islamic radicalism by his mother, and taught to hate Jews and Christians by his father. Recruited by the Muslim Brotherhood for jihadi militancy as a small child, he completed his first bloody terror mission into Israel for the Palestinian Liberation Organization (PLO) at the age of seven.

A near-fatal auto accident caused Kamal Saleem to confront Judeo-Christian ethic: Rescued from the wreckage and nursed back to health by devout Christians, he defected entirely from Islam. Kamal Saleem eventually married an American Christian woman, Victoria. Kamal Saleem has shared his knowledge of Islamist tactics and conquest plans with audiences at Berkeley, Mich., and in the Ivy League; in synagogues, mega-churches, foundations, and the United Jewish Appeal (Aspen); on major U.S. media and talk shows; and with U.S. military leaders, security agents, the U.S. Air Force Academy, private contractors, and law enforcement specialists.

Like Ergun, Kamal has had access to our military and government.  Kamal's ventures into the secular realm should motivate us as taxpayers to do something.

Quoting Ergun is fun

Next Script is Done!

I just wanted to make this point.  One, it is a relief to have the transcription done before making a video.  Two, I am pretty much just quoting Ergun.  Everything in yellow is a quote from Ergun or Norman.  My claims about Ergun are from his own lips.

Things come full circle with Dr. Ankerberg

For those of you who are new to the Ergun saga, let me sum up.  Ergun and Emir did several interviews with Dr. John Ankerberg.  There were some discrepancies.  Later, John released a statement during the midst of the Ergun scandal.

To Whom It May Concern:

I have known Ergun Caner for nearly a decade. I am disheartened by the recent attacks upon his integrity and character. I have interviewed Ergun for more than a dozen television shows and believe his personal testimony to be completely true. Otherwise, I would not have allowed him to broadcast his story to the millions of viewers that tune in to my program across the globe. Ergun and his brother, Emir, are men of God who have taken a valiant stand for the Lord, even costing them and their families their safety. For someone to attack Ergun’s selfless sacrifice, especially since they malign his character without any substantiation, is both unchristian and unbiblical. Count me among the many who will stand with Ergun Caner, knowing he stands for the Lord Jesus Christ.

Sincerely,
Dr. John F. Ankerberg
President
Today, Ergun, John, and Emir, began filming for six shows that will air in over 200 countries.

One, I agree that to "malign his character without any substantiation" would be morally wrong.  This is why on this blog, I have tried to transcribe Ergun's lies extensively.  I have tried to demonstrate that these are not one time misstatements, but a pattern of repeated behavior.  Mother Smuggling, Does Emir Know?, Ergun Caner, Porn, and the Champion 2002, Is Norman Geisler calling Ergun Caner a liar? and Apologist Acrobats and Andy Griffith are probably the best examples from me.  Also with probably only two exceptions, I have provided the unedited source material so that you can listen for yourself.

Two, why is Ergun back on the Ankerberg show without apologizing for lying to the Marines in New River?  Where are the big name pastors warning people about Ergun Caner?  People have told me that they pray for Ergun, asking that God would bring him to repentance.   Prayer can be effective, but before the scandal, Ergun probably had more people praying for him than today.  God has waited over a decade without warning most people about Ergun.  His popularity is climbing again, not decreasing.

Mother Smuggling and Ergun Caner - USMC

OK, let me explain. No there is too much. Let me sum up. In Sweden, Acar Caner married Ergun’s mother. Ergun was born first in 1966. Erdem was born second in 1968. Then they picked up the family and moved to Ohio where Emir was born in 1970.

The marriage was troubled so Acar moved out around 1975. The divorce was finalized around 1978. Shortly thereafter, Acar remarried. He had two daughters from this second marriage.

Nobody disputes this. However, we saw in the last episode that in 2003, Ergun claimed the following

My mother found out late in her marriage that my father was married to more than one woman. I don’t want anyone else to deal with this.

If this was an accidental misstatement, what are the odds that I can provide additional examples of Ergun claiming his father was married to multiple women at the same time? This next one comes from a lecture that Ergun gave April 2005 at Marine Corp Air Station New River.

Misconception. You understand…How many of you have already been in country? Many of you already know that we live and die by misconception. Just as I only understood American culture by what I had seen on television so do…too…most Iraqis who only get their television from controlled sources…even still…even though there is freedom about. We have misconceptions about you. Much of what I do is because there is so much misinformation. I spend half my time debating, in formats, debating Muslim Ulema, those are scholars, debating Imams, the pastors. I spend most of my time cutting through cliché.

There are certain things about being in country that I wish someone would have told me about coming to America and that I wish somebody would tell you. Probably the largest and most gaping difference is the fact that the vast majority of my people are thrilled by what you have done and brought to us.

My father had more than one wife at a time. As you know the Quran says in Surah four that you are allowed up to four wives. My father had three. I have sisters, half-sisters, who are learning to read, because of what you have brought to us. I have got cousins who voted for the first time, because of what you brought to us. If some tree hugging, whale kissing, crystal caring, Birkenstock wearing, Grateful Dead following, Jane Fonda spouting nut tells you that we all are just anti, please listen to me very carefully. There is a huge contingent of my people who are tasting freedom for the first time, because of what you have done. [Applause] I am thankful. Written on the walls of the mosque in Kabul, [speaking unknown foreign language], “do not teach the women to read and write.” You have let my sisters read and be trained in literacy for the first time.

Democracy is like crap out of a bull. You cannot put it back in. Once you have allowed it free, it’s there. I learned this, because they took me for a run through a field once. Those weren’t ant hills.

You watch us on television. You hear us speak. And there are some misconceptions that I want to cut through. The first one being, many of us are unbelievably thrilled about the fact that you have given us the freedom to believe or not believe anything. Yes, I am a Christian. I am an absolute believer in Jesus Christ as Lord. But you see you have also given us the freedom to believe anything. You’ve given us the freedom to think for ourselves. You’ve given us the freedom. You see that belief that is forced isn’t belief. Belief that is coerced isn’t true faith. The one great exponent of America is the freedom to think and rationally believe and reasonably consider for yourself. You brought this to us.

“Oh you have exported Americanism.” “A”, we want Americanism, you don’t see anyone walking to get in line to go to “Mc-Kabul”. We are coming to America. Nobody is going to Canada either. I am in Canada four times a year. I don’t understand Canada. Every time, I get protested. More and more, my protesters are these crackers, white guys. I can say cracker, I’m olive, I can make fun of all of yall. “Um excuse me, why are you always picking on Canada?” Because our Salvation Army could kick your ass if we wanted it to.

Wow, another accidental misstatement.

My father had more than one wife at a time. As you know the Quran says in Surah four that you are allowed up to four wives. My father had three.

He knows his father was not married to three women at the same time. However, even if this was accidental what are the odds Ergun will double down on it in this same lecture?

Wonderful question, because we think in terms of our culture. We think in terms of the American Army versus who? Who is the [indiscernible]? Where are the borders and where are the boundaries ? And jihad is crosses borders and boundaries. Lebanese, Jordanians, Syrian, U.A.E, Qatar, you really have, you mean, Sudan, you have these groups that are defined by their sect and tribe as opposed to country. So I have heard, this we hear constantly, I being Turk, coming to Iraq, I have heard Iraqis say, “This is not us.” “These are the Sunni who are coming from other countries.” That very well could be. And part of their solution in there new government is going to be a strategy of immigration. Establishing a reasoning for immigration. Are you coming here for good reasons or bad reasons? Again, this is a Shia versus Sunni issue and then you have subsets of Sunni. Wahabi is a subset of Sunni. The twelfth imam are a subset of the Shia. So you have Hezbollah and these varying groups that are a subsets that if you can cross that, perhaps you can end a lot of the insurgency and a lot of the fighting. That is a very valid point. I think that is a fair question. I think a fair understanding.

They have problems with immigration. I became an American citizen…uh…and stood up and took the vow and came in legally. We got stopped at the border, because my father had listed my mother as property. It’s true. And the guy said, “Your wife’s not property.” And he said, “of course she is.” Then he brought his “sisters” which is his other wives that’s how we bring in our other wives to America. We call them our “sisters”.

There you have it, Ergun claimed to Marines on a Marine base that his father was a polygamist and a human trafficker or at least a mother smuggler. Now he knows that neither is true. This sounds like a definite lie to me.

We got stopped at the border, because my father had listed my mother as property. It’s true. And the guy said, “Your wife’s not property.” And he said, “of course she is.” Then he brought his “sisters” which is his other wives that’s how we bring in our other wives to America. We call them our “sisters”.

Also, it takes some balls to lie to Marines on a Marine base during the midst of two wars.

Politicians and Ergun

Congressman Tom Graves and Ergun at Belmont Baptist Church

Ergun recently posed for a picture with Tom Graves, the self described "conservative Republican" Congressman that represents Georgia's 14th Congressional District.

I wonder if Representative Graves knows that Ergun was payed by the taxpayer to lie to our Marines at New River?

Logical fallacies to avoid when criticizing Ergun Caner

These are few fallacies to avoid when criticizing Ergun or anyone for that matter.

Ad hominem - An Ad hominem is when you attack the person rather than their argument.  Just because Ergun is dishonest does not mean that he is wrong about other things.  Every argument he makes should be evaluated on its own merit.

Some might think that accusing Ergun of lying about this or that is an ad hominem attack.  To the contrary when Ergun makes a claim, it is not an ad hominem to evaluate whether or not his claim is true.  For example when Ergun claims:
My mother found out late in her marriage that my father was married to more than one woman. I don’t want anyone else to deal with this.
We are free to point out that to the best of everyone's knowledge, Acar Caner never "was married to more than one woman" at a time.  Ergun's mother never found out late in her marriage about her husband's polygamy.  Further in other examples, Ergun will tell his audiences that in 1978 Acar smuggled in his extra wives across the United States border as his "sisters".  These claims are so impossibly false that it seems impossible that he would accidentally repeat them if these claims were not intentional.  An intentional false claim is generally considered, lies.  Calling his claims lies is dealing with his claims, not his person.

Poisoning the well - Poisoning the well is where you try to taint every argument, because the arguments are connected somehow to unsavory arguments.  For example, if Hitler once embraced a similar point of view, the well is poisoned by fallacious guilt by association.  If the arguer is a Calvinist, the well can be poisoned by ad hominem.  (The Calvinist accused Ergun.)

Guilt by association - It is fallacious to assume anything about anybody that is somehow associated with Ergun.  For example, we have no way of knowing who knew that Ergun was lying to people.

Genetic fallacy - This fallacy is when we assume that things are irrevocably tied to there historical past.  For example, it is fallacious to assume that Ergun will continue to lie, just because he lied previously.

Ad-hoc reasoning - Ad-hoc is when you introduce additional speculation to make the failed conclusion more viable.

Mother smuggling and Ergun Caner - Introduction

Here we are coming to Ergun Caner’s claims on his father’s polygamy. Elsewhere I have wondered out loud if Emir knows about his brother’s unsubstantiated claims. A few times, I have even questioned how Emir can proclaim Ergun’s “unquestionable Christian character” when he lies so absolutely about their own mother and father.

While not directly challenging Emir, this video series will establish that many times Ergun has claimed his father had multiple wives at the same time. These claims have been made too directly and too frequently to be accidental misstatements.

First lets lay a little ground work. Ergun’s parents separated in 1975 and finalized their divorce in 1978. These documents are uncontested. In defending Ergun, Norman Geisler, noted:

Further, that Ergun was reared a devout Muslim is proven by his father’s testimony recorded in the divorce proceedings documents which ironically Ergun’s critic placed on the internet.

In another defense, he referenced the order of events.

After the divorce, he was raised by his mother who obviously had not disowned him since she was no longer a Muslim. But his Muslim father who had remarried did disown him.

Relevant portions are made available in the description below.

Norman also noted.

OK, Ergun’s father, Acar, having only two wives and only being married to one at a time, is not in dispute. Given this, lets cue the clip from 2003.

Ashburn Baptist March 2, 2003

Man and woman are equal Surah 2 tells us, but a man has a degree over her. Mohammed said, it takes the testimony of two women to equal the testimony of one man, because of the deficiency of a woman’s mind. Hadith volume 9, please look that up. And that’s why in thirty-eight countries around the world, it takes the testimony of two women to equal the testimony of one man. Mohammed said that hellfire is filled with two thirds women. This is the doctrine of women.

How many wives is a man allowed to have in Islam? Four! Four, up to four. Two, three, or four based on what he can financially afford. That is from Surah 4 of the Quran. How many husbands is a woman allowed to have? Just one. And ladies even if your husband dies you do not have a choice. If in Islamic doctrine, if your husband dies you must go to his brothers. So I want all the women in the room right now to think about their brother in laws. Do you know why I like telling people this? Because it is always inevitable the women will go “ewww” and all the men look back. Even though we are talking about their death, the guy is going, “There ain’t nothing wrong with my brother.” “He’s a good man, he’s a good man, I tell you.” But you do not have a choice.

Who is allowed to divorce? The man all he has to do is face Mecca and begin the Nicah. [indiscernible] He disowns her. Three times he says I disown you, I divorce you. And you are divorced. You don’t get any land. You get nothing.

For those of you who have friends and family who are dating Muslim men or know a woman who is, please write down this verse. Surah 4:34 and I quote, fourth chapter of the Quran, “If a man fears disloyalty from his wife, first he must admonish her, secondly refuse to share the bed with her, thirdly beat her.”

On open line radio with Wayne Shepherd, I was debating Muslim woman scholar and this was the Moody show, the Wayne Shepherd thing, and he said she’s on the line and she wants to disagree with what you say. She calls in and she said, “You do not understand. You have quoted this verse three times and you do not understand in the Arabic, that means to tap her lightly.”

I had two answers. Number one, I do understand the Arabic. I do read the Arabic and no, it doesn’t mean to tap her lightly. And secondly, are you insane? Let me tell you what my wife says. My wife says if I ever tap her lightly, I will quote, “I will stomp a mud hole in you and I will walk it dry.” Do you understand why some women wear, a burqa covers many wounds.

A Hijab can refer to a head scarf or a traditional dress code covering of the entire body except the face, hands, and feet
There are three outfits that a woman will wear. One is called the hijab and that covers everything but the face and the hands and the feet. Because again, you have to check her toes. Secondly, it is the Niqab that covers everything, but it also covers the eye. And thirdly is the burqa and you say “barqa”.

My mother found out late in her marriage that my father was married to more than one woman. I don’t want anyone else to deal with this.

Does anyone have any questions on the issue of women? Yes, my sister. I will come back to that, if a man marries a Muslim woman. Let me answer the question about the brother. If their brothers, if a man has two brothers, but they are already married to four women, or they got the most they can take care of. She must go to his uncles. So there is the possibility that you could be thirty married to a seventy-five year old man. And then if the uncles are dead or don’t want a wife you must then by proxy go to the nephews, his nephews. So the possibility is that you could be thirty and married to a man who is seventeen or fourteen and have to raise yet another.

There are many locations where Ergun claims that his father had quote, “many wives” or quote “other wives”. Ergun’s defenders point out that two can be quote “many” also perhaps “other wives” was a slip of the tongue. However how do you explain,

My mother found out late in her marriage that my father was married to more than one woman. I don’t want anyone else to deal with this.

It seems like a definite lie to me. Ergun clearly knows that his father never had more than one wife at a time.

My mother found out late in her marriage that my father was married to more than one woman. I don’t want anyone else to deal with this.

Norman Geisler's statements

Correction - I posted a correction to the caption on the picture.  While a hijab is a head scarf, it can also refer to the entire traditional Islamic dress code "calling for the covering of the entire body except theface, hands, and feet."  Still, anyone wearing any of those articles of Islamic clothing would be observing hijab.  So I am unclear why Ergun makes the distinction.
